Scilla Maderiensis

A rare species of hyacinth native to the island of Madeira off the coast of Portugal. The amethyst-purple bulbs produce a rosette of foliage, followed a few weeks later by an exotic lavender-blue flower. The bulbs are winter hardy in zones 9-11, but may also be grown indoors much like an amaryllis. Bulbs are propagated in Israel, not wild-collected.
